This year I’m proud to be supporting an incredible local charity, The Feed, through their 12 Months, 12 Businesses campaign, a brilliant initiative that sees local businesses across Norfolk each take a month to donate £500 and help provide their Social Supermarket members with free fruit and vegetables for a month?
After spotting a post from Nade, (Marketing and Fundraising Manager – The Feed), I knew I wanted to get involved. This is such an important charity for Norwich, and their mission really resonated with me:
“To empower communities in Norwich through the power of food, ensuring every person has the support to eat well, live well and feel connected.”
A recent report revealed that Norfolk has the highest rate of malnutrition in England, a shocking statistic that really brings home just how essential The Feed’s work is. The cost of living crisis has made it even harder for many people in our community to afford nutritious food. That’s where The Feed steps in.
By donating £500, I’m helping ensure their members can enjoy a healthy, balanced diet. Something everyone deserves.
One of the key initiatives that stood out to me was their Social Supermarket, based at the city end of Hall Road. I had the chance to speak to Callum, who helps run it and he shared how much of a difference donations like this make especially with funding cuts in the charity sector.
The Social Supermarket offers affordable groceries (around 60% cheaper than supermarkets) alongside free fruit, veg, bread, toiletries and period products, all designed to make eating well accessible to more people.
If you live in Norwich, chances are you’ve visited one of The Feed’s cafés or seen their vans around the city, but there’s so much more going on behind the scenes. From their catering work to community programmes, they’re helping people every day.
There are still spots available in July, November and December for the 12 Months, 12 Businesses campaign. If your business wants to get involved, I’d absolutely encourage you to reach out to Nade at nade@thefeed.org.uk. You can also support them by visiting their cafés, booking their catering or donating directly.
It’s a small gesture with a big impact.
