Grace & Tom - Cooling Castle Barn, Kent

"He was absolutely amazing and we received so many compliments on his performances."

A relaxed drinks reception, a huge wedding breakfast entrance and a second sax set to build the energy before the evening party. Grace & Tom’s wedding at Cooling Castle Barn had such a brilliant flow from afternoon through to the evening reception.

They booked me for two separate sets across the day: the first from 3pm–4pm during the drinks reception, and the second from 6:30pm–7:30pm for cocktail hour, just before their first dance.

It meant the music could support two completely different parts of the day. Relaxed and chilled after the ceremony, then upbeat and full of energy later on.

Drinks Reception Sax

After their 2pm ceremony, guests moved into the drinks reception and the celebrations properly began.

For this part of the day, Grace & Tom wanted a relaxed atmosphere with chilled sax vibes while guests enjoyed drinks, caught up and took photos around the venue.

Songs like All Of Me helped create that warm, romantic feel without overpowering the room. It was the perfect way to soundtrack that post-ceremony moment where everyone starts to settle into the day.

The Wedding Breakfast Entrance

At 4pm, it was time for guests to head in for the wedding breakfast and Grace & Tom wanted to make their entrance properly.

Their chosen track was: Jubel

It’s one of those songs that instantly lifts the room. Rather than simply walking into applause, Grace & Tom entered to live sax and a room already buzzing, napkins waving and with energy. The perfect way to start the next part of the celebration.

Cocktail Hour

After the speeches finished around 6pm, I came back on for a second set from 6:30pm–7:30pm.

This was all about shifting the atmosphere before the evening party began. With the first dance due at 7:30pm, the cocktail hour sax set helped bridge the gap between dinner and the dancefloor.

The music became more upbeat, with tracks like Titanium, This Girl and Freed From Desire bringing that Ibiza-inspired, feel-good energy into the room.

It created a really natural build into the evening, so by the time the DJ took over for the first dance, the energy was already exactly where it needed to be.

Why This Wedding Worked So Well

Grace & Tom’s day is a great example of how live sax can work across different parts of a wedding without feeling repetitive.

The drinks reception was relaxed and romantic, the wedding breakfast entrance was high energy, and the cocktail hour brought everything up a level before the evening party started. Each set had its own purpose, and that made the whole day feel really well-paced.

Final Thoughts

Grace & Tom’s wedding was such a lovely reminder that the right music at the right moment can completely shape the atmosphere of a day. From chilled drinks reception sax to a big Jubel wedding breakfast entrance and an upbeat cocktail hour set, every musical moment had a clear purpose.

If you’re planning your wedding and want live sax to help bring different parts of the day to life, I’d love to chat.

Alex played on Friday for our wedding. He was happy to perform 2 sets for us, 1 for the drinks reception & into our wedding breakfast, and then again when evening guests arrived. He was absolutely amazing and we received so many compliments on his performances. 100% recommend him to anyone who wants to book a saxophonist for a special event. We will definitely book him again in the future. Thank you Alex!!
