Chris & Alice Wedding - Images by Anna

"We had LOADS of compliments from the guests and some great videos of children & adults dancing away with Alex."

There’s something so special about a summer wedding by the sea, and Chris & Alice’s day at Thorpeness Country Club was exactly that. Warm, joyful, relaxed and full of energy from start to finish. This was my second time doing a Suffolk wedding at this stunning venue, and it was a real pleasure to be back, especially for such a brilliant couple.

Chris & Alice chose my Sax/DJ Hybrid Set, perfect for couples who want live sax energy with the flexibility and flow of a DJ-style soundtrack throughout the evening.

Kicking Off the Evening – 7:00pm

We started with their chosen first dance, “One Life” by James Bay, played through my speakers no sax, just a beautiful, intimate moment.

Then it was party time.

The couple had asked for a lively 30-minute set straight after the first dance so their photographers and videographers could capture everyone on the dancefloor before they slipped away for the evening. And it worked perfectly.

The opening set featured:

  • This Will Be – Natalie Cole
  • Love Story – Taylor Swift
  • Jubel – Klingande
  • Rhythm of the Night – Corona
  • Shut Up and Dance – Walk the Moon
  • You’ve Got the Love – Florence + The Machine

Balcony Sunset Vibes – 7:30pm to 9:00pm

As Chris & Alice disappeared for golden-hour photos (and a bit of cake cutting!), we eased into a more laid-back mood.
With the summer heat still lingering, we moved the music outside with some mellow sax from the balcony overlooking the beach, with a warm mix of 70s/80s classics and chilled tunes.

A quick pizza break was very much appreciated at this point!

Bringing the Party Back – After 9:00pm

As the evening cooled down and guests returned indoors, it was time to lift the energy again.

Boney M’s “Rasputin” and ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” were top of their list both absolute crowd-pleasers, and perfect for bringing everyone back onto the dancefloor for the second wave of celebrations.

@alexrimellsax Loved playing this last night at Chris & Alice’s wedding. 💍 Rasputin always gets people up on the dance floor! 🕺💃 #fyp #foryou #sax #wedding #weddinginspo ♬ original sound – alexrimellsax

Alex played at our wedding in Suffolk. He joined in after our first dance with 30mins of upbeat music so our photographer & videographer could get some great shots of everyone busting their moves before they went home. Then toned down for a while, more as background music - as it’s peak summer and still quite hot for dancing! And then bough the vibe back up for later in the evening. We had LOADS of compliments from the guests and some great videos of children & adults dancing away with Alex. Alex is also just generally a lovely person to deal with & was very flexible on the night when we were running a little behind. We realised when looking back on the photos he even did an outfit change mid set! We are slightly gutted we missed most of the sax as were busy with cake cutting, golden hour photos etc. so are very much hoping to see him at other event! I would also say I think Alex is a really reasonably priced option for a wedding, especially in comparison to a band.
