When it comes to wedding music throughout the day, one beautiful and touching moment is the father-daughter dance. Sometimes this happens before/after the first dance and it’s a chance to slow things down, soak in the love and gratitude and celebrate a meaningful relationship in the room.

Choosing the right song can feel like a lot of pressure. You want something heartfelt, timeless and personal. Over the years, I’ve played a fair few father–daughter dances on the sax and I’ve noticed some songs really strike that perfect balance of emotion and celebration.

An incredibly moving country ballad that really captures a father’s love for his daughter. Expect tissues all round for this one. This is a personal favourite from my cousins wedding at Parley Manor.

I’ve got to add a bit of Swift in! Soft, tender and packed with emotion, this is a perfect choice for daughters who want to honour those childhood memories with their dad.

At the end of the day, the best father–daughter dance song is the one that feels right for you and your dad (or whoever is stepping into that role). Whether it’s fun and upbeat or tear-jerkingly emotional, it’s about celebrating your relationship in a way that feels genuine.
